Kaira Looro Senegal Women's House

The project proposes a women's house in Senegal where women can come together to work, receive training and organize social events, and was prepared for the Kaira Looro competition in 2021. The building is organized on a grid of 4.4-meter modules around a central courtyard; this modular layout allows each unit to be used as an enclosed workspace or an open gathering area as needed. Locally available bamboo, timber and compressed earth were chosen as the building's main materials. Movable bamboo panels divide the spaces flexibly, while a lightweight roof with wide eaves provides shade. The timber floor, raised off the ground, also contributes to natural ventilation.
